GTOP – Public Works Audit Working Group

 

In compliance with its 2012 Action Plan, the then Regional Training Committee (CCR), today called the Capacity Building Committee (CCC), held on August 2 and 3, 2012, in Montevideo, Uruguay, the International Seminar on Fiscal Control and Public Works in Latin America, as an initial framework for international cooperation on this subject.

The seminar was held within the framework of Phase I of the OLACEFS-GIZ Regional Program, which contracted a Specialized Consultancy in Public Works Audit, with the main objective of supporting the SAIs of the region in the process of identification and socialization of good practices in public works audits as a strategy for joint learning and generation of institutional capacities.

Therefore, in said seminar the first suggestions were developed, and in the LIV Meeting of the Board of Directors, held in January 2013 (Brasilia), the start of work was approved, with a view to the formation of the Audit Working Group. of Public Works (GTOP), which was finally resolved at the LV Meeting of the Board of Directors, held in July 2013 (Tegucigalpa), where the formation of the Public Works Audit Working Group (GTOP) and its members was approved. terms of reference.

Currently, the presidency of the GTOP is exercised by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile and as main projects, the Coordinated Audit of Renewable Energies (ACER), led by the Court of Accounts of the Union of Brazil, and the Coordinated Audit of Mining Environmental Liabilities (AC PAMs), led by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile.

Finally, it is important to note that, at the LXX Meeting of the OLACEFS Board of Directors, held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on October 15, 2019, it was decided to approve the extension of the GTOP term until the first meeting of the Board. Executive of the year 2021, in accordance with the provisions of Agreement 1410/10/2019.
